Star Club

STAR

STAR ( Students Taking Action for Resolutions ) is a community  empowerment organization dedicated to improving the school environment at Kenton Ridge High School. Any KR student is eligible to join and become a member. Members actively participate in planning KR's  annual Peace Week, and the fall Lock-in. In addition to these activities,  STAR reps help students resolve disputes by practicing the training they receive in peer listening and peer mediation. All members are eligible to receive such training. STAR is advised and organized by Mr. Kevin Hawke, a guidance counselor at KR , and Ms. Pat Peters, an instructor at KR.

Under the direction of Kevin Hawke, a guidance counselor at KR, and Ms. Patricia Peters, an LD tutor at KR, members of the STAR club attended a valuable workshop on being good peer listeners. As a part of a school-wide program to provide peer mediation to students, these students participated in this workshop as a means of improving their listening skills to assist them in the peer mediation process.
