STUDY TABLES

Students earn a study table when they do not have their homework completed when it is due.  Study tables are served during the student's lunch.  Instead of being able to socialize with their friends during lunch, when a student earns a study table they are required to report to the study table area of the cafeteria and work on the homework that was not completed.  Study tables are monitored  by the sixth grade teachers.  Study tables serve two purposes; both as a consequence for not having finished their homework and giving students an additional opportunity to seek teacher help.

Glen Helen

Glen Helen is an ecological camp located in Yellow Springs, OH.  Every year we take up to 90 sixth grade students on a four day, three night trip to the Glen.  On this trip students learn an incredible amount about nature and the world around them.  The trip to Glen Helen is a fun trip for all in attendance.  This year’s trip will be September 22-25 (that’s really soon!).  The Glen Helen trip is not tied to the incentive program in any way and does cost $145.  Please see Mr. Eaton for more information.

Tribal Council

The tribal council system is a support system that the sixth grade team has created to aide in the transition to middle school.  The sixth graders will be split up into six different tribes and each tribe is assigned to one sixth grade teacher.  The students meet with their tribe for 43 minutes at the end of every day.  During this time students are able to seek help from any teacher, study in groups for tests, get a start on homework, etc.  We have also included a bit of friendly competition and keep track of which tribe does the best on test averages, overall grades, study tables and so on.
