Permanent Improvement Levy

Money collected from a PI levy can only be used for items that last at least 5 years.  Primarily these funds are used for the maintenance and repairs of district facilities.  Funds have also been used to replace food service and band equipment.  Future expenditures may include replacement of aging security cameras and computer technology, and school buses.

Improvement Levy

Receipts generated from previous PI Levy ceased collection in December 2004.  Past expenditures from PI funds have included

New Building Additions Boilers
Roof Repair /Replacement Furniture Replacement
Tile Replacement Bus Replacement
Driveway Resurfacing Improved Outdoor Lighting
Band Instruments Culvert Repairs
Textbooks Computers
Septic Systems Playground Gravel
Door Replacement Stage Bleachers
Balcony Seating

How much will this cost me?

A 1 mill PI levy would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $30.63 per year, or less than $.09 per day...a small price to pay to maintain safe learning environments for the children of the Northeastern Local School District.

Cost of First $100,000 of HOME VALUE

General Tax Payer
$30.63 per year

Senior Citizens and Disabled who have filed for the new $25,000 exemption
$22.97 per year

Cost of Homes Valued over $100,000
General Tax Payer
$30.63 per additional $100,000 of Value
Senior Citizens and Disabled who have filed for the new $25,000 exemption
$30.63 per additional $100,000 of Value
Therefore, the Cost Associated with a $200,000 Valued Home
General Tax Payer
$30.63 x 2=$61.26
Senior Citizens and Disabled who have filed for the new $25,000 exemption
$22.97+$30.63=$53.60

What will happen if this levy fails?

Should the PI levy fail many repairs that need to be made to the district's aging facilities would not be able to be made.  District buildings and grounds would deteriorate further and result in more costly repairs in the future.  The health and safety of your district's children may be put in jeopardy.  Any emergency repairs will need to be paid from general fund.
