Dear
Parents and Residents of the Northeastern Local School District: We
would like to thank the many of you who participated in the District’s
recent Ohio Improvement Planning Survey.
These surveys are very important sources of information about how
we can continuously improve the school learning environment. It
also helps us improve our communications with the people in the community
who are most concerned about what is taking place in our schools. We
were very pleased to receive 219 responses from Parents in our district
and 88 responses from our Residents in the District who do not have
children in the schools. The
questions were divided into three categories- -
Issues
surrounding the safety of our students -
How well our
communications efforts are informing our school community -
The overall
educational experience we provide our students using our current
technology and curriculum. Based
on your responses, we have learned about the areas where we are doing well
and the areas which need the most improvement.
Eighty-two percent (82%) of parents and non-parent residents who
participated in the survey feel our students are receiving a good
education and that our teachers are doing a good job.
The
majority of all respondents knew how to get in touch with our
administrative offices and felt comfortable bringing concerns to their
attention. It
was very encouraging that 97.7% of the non-parent survey participants
stated that they had visited one or more of our school buildings. Approximately
half (50%) of all respondents felt we do a good job communicating but the
other (50%) feels there is room for improvement.
Many of you said you’d like to see more positive things written
about our schools in the paper and that only half of the respondents are
hearing about school issues, events and activities.
Seventy
three percent (73%) of our parent respondents knew that our schools have
security measures in place for their children and that their children were
aware of what to do in the event of an emergency or lockdown, but nearly
60% of those parents also felt our buildings were only “somewhat”
safe. Of the non-parent
respondents, 63.3% of these respondents did not feel our buildings were
safe. Over 51% responded that they could enter classrooms without checking
in to the office or signing in as a visitor. Seventy-five
percent (75%) of the survey participants wanted to see new technology and
curriculum introduced into our schools.
Respondents felt teaching methods in our schools may be more
limited than in other districts. Please
know that your comments and suggestions will help us improve the education
of our students, create a safe and conducive learning environment and
enhance our communication with our school community.
We welcome your continued input and involvement. We
will be conducting another follow-up survey in the spring and we hope that
you will once again participate and also ask your neighbors and friends to
log onto our website and provide us with important feedback. We will continue to strive to make Northeastern Local the
best school district possible and your input and support is critical in
achieving this goal. Thanks
again to those who participated in our Survey. |
