March 30, 2020 District Update

Dear NELSD Families:

As you know, the Northeastern Local School District has been closed since March 16, as ordered by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, to help prevent the further spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community. On Monday, March 30, Governor Mike DeWine ordered an extension to the school closures in our state. The current plan is to keep schools closed until at least Friday, May 1, 2020.

The closures will continue to affect all NELSD programming, including before- and after-school activities, all athletic and extracurricular practices and competitions, and all weekend events. We will continue to offer meal pick-up for students on Mondays and Wednesdays, as allowed by the Governor’s order.

Our teachers and staff are still hard at work to continue to provide meaningful distance learning opportunities to students. Our staff, in anticipation of the possibility of an extended closure, has already been planning for continued distance learning and will share those plans with families on Friday, April 3. If you have any questions about how distance learning is delivered, please contact your child’s building principal.

This has been an incredibly challenging time for the entire NELSD community. We miss your students, but their health and safety, and the health and safety of our families and communities, are our top priority. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we have dealt with this unprecedented situation. We will continue to keep you updated via email, text, social media, and our website, at nelsd.org.
      Once again, thank you.

Sincerely,

John Kronour

Superintendent
