NEHS FFA Battles Hunger in Our Community

Northeastern FFA is taking on hunger in Clark County, raising funds and volunteers to provide 26,000 meals for community members in need from Meals of Hope.
Meals of Hope is a hands-on approach to fighting hunger in local communities, allowing volunteers to create a nutritious food package that will be distributed at an established local food bank. Northeastern FFA is partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank and will be meeting at 9 a.m. on April 8 at Northeastern High School to package meals. Community members are invited to join them to help package the meals.
Northeastern FFA raised more than$1800 to support this endeavor, through a Meals of Hope Jeans day for staff, pancake breakfast, senior Ag business profits, a 50/50 raffle at an NEHS Basketball game, and a generous donation from Mr. Jim Foreman, an NEHS grandparent and FFA Booster.
“Northeastern FFA is not only an important part of our school community, but also an important force in giving back to our larger community in Clark County,” said Principal Ally Thurman. “We are proud of all these students accomplish in their academic and agricultural work, and especially in their generous efforts to make a difference in their community.”
