Northeastern Local School District continues to be a leader in year-to-year student growth, earning a 2018 Momentum Award.
This is the district’s third consecutive Momentum Award, a designation from the State Board of Education that recognizes districts and schools that help students exceed growth expectations for learning. It is given to districts and individual schools that earn straight As on the value-added section of the state report card for helping students grow academically by more than a year.
Northridge Elementary, Northridge Middle, and South Vienna Middle all earned building Momentum Awards.
“Our goal is to help every child reach their educational goals and find their path to success at NELSD and beyond,” said Superintendent John Kronour. “The consecutive Momentum Awards our district has earned show that NELSD students are exceeding annual learning expectations. Our students and teachers are working hard at school at the important task of learning, and our staff is making a positive impact on all of our students every day to help them succeed.”
Seventy districts and 226 schools received the Momentum Award for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year, according to the Ohio Department of Education.
“Every day, Ohio’s schools do the challenging but rewarding work of educating our students and building the future of our state,” said State Board of Education President Tess Elshoff in a press release from the ODE. “The State Board of Education is proud to recognize these students, teachers, administrators and parents for their accomplishments.”
