About Our Board

Jill Parker, Board President
Jill Parker joined the Northeastern Local School District Board of Education in January of 2016.  Mrs. Parker is a 1986 graduate of Shawnee High School and has previously worked as a medical assistant, a tax preparer, and a Realtor.  An avid writer, she is currently working toward finishing her degree in Creative Writing. 

Mrs. Parker and her husband, Tim, have three daughters who all graduated from Northeastern High School.  All three are currently pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, two at the Ohio State University and one at Oklahoma University.  The family recently celebrated the arrival of their first grandchild, a little girl born on January 8, 2020 in Tulsa.

Mrs. Parker’s term expires on December 31, 2023.

Jeff Yinger, Board Vice President
Mr. Jeff Yinger joined the Northeastern Local School District Board of Education in January of 2018. He is the Municipal Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator for the City of Springfield, Ohio, since 2010, and previously worked for 18 years as a Lab Technician for the City of Springfield, Ohio, and is a past owner of Unified Laboratories.

Mr. Yinger and his wife of 29 years, Tammy, have three children: Mandalyn (a 2013 graduate of NEHS and a 2017 graduate of Ohio University), Jeff, Jr. (a 2016 graduate of NEHS, currently attending Clark State) and Annika (a 2018 GISA graduate, currently attending Heidelberg University). He attended Wright State University, where he studied Biology, and is currently an Honor student attending Hocking College, studying Water and Wastewater Management.

Mr. Yinger has served as a Northeastern Band Parents Association Officer, a secretary and trustee of the board of his church, and started several non-profit organizations. 

Mr. Yinger's term expires on December 31, 2025. 

Joel Augustus, Board Member
Mr. Joel Augustus joined the Northeastern Local School District Board of Education in January of 2016. He is the Executive Vice President of Lifeline Christian Mission in Westerville. Mr. Augustus and his wife, Janny, have three children, Helen, Sara and Samuel.

Mr. Augustus has a Bachelor’s degree from Kentucky Christian University and a Master’s degree in Pastoral Leadership from Cincinnati Christian University.

Mr. Augustus’ term expires on December 31, 2023.

Mr. Jeff Collins
Jeff is a Springfield native who has been working with middle and high school students for over twenty years.  He graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Math and Aeronautics and is also a graduate of Antioch-Midwest with a Masters of Education. Jeff is a licensed Math and Physics teacher.  He has worked in the field of education for ten years as a teacher and doing accreditation.  He has lived in the Northeastern District for ten years.   He is married to Helen, who has been teaching for 23 years.  Jeff and Helen have three high school-aged children. 

Mr. Collins' term expires on December 31, 2025.

Chris Thompson, Board Member 
Chris Thompson joined the Northeastern Local School District Board of Education in January of 2022. He is a Northeastern alumnus, Class of 1989, and has resided in the District since 1983. Chris and his wife Lori, of over 27 years, have three children. The two oldest graduated from Northeastern in 2017 and 2020. Their youngest is expected to graduate from the new Northeastern building in 2024.

Mr. Thompson graduated from Urbana University in 2006 with a dual degree in Business Management and Human Relations. He has worked at Forward Air, a transportation company, for 29 years. Additionally, Mr. Thompson has a passion for real estate and has been an investor since 2010. He has held a school board position at our local Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center since July 2021.

Mr. Thompson’s top six values are self-development, persistence, fitness, strong work ethic, adventure, and mindfulness. He feels that a solid K-12 education is important as it is the foundation of a person’s professional and personal life. He wants to make sure that foundation is strong by ensuring the District has strong leadership. Lastly, he would like to see the District team up recent graduates with seasoned alumni to help them find mentors or better jobs.

Mr. Thompson's term expires on December 31, 2025.
