Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) serves around 3,000 students in grades PreK-12 in the communities of Harmony, Pleasant, Moorefield, Northridge, and South Vienna in the State of Ohio.

The district has four physical school buildings, employs more than 450 staff members, and offers a wide variety of educational opportunities from early childhood to college preparation.

All employees and substitutes must pass a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) background check to work in a school district.

What are the requirements to be a school bus driver?

High School Diploma or Equivalent
After obtaining a CDL B permit, drivers are required to attend a four-day pre-service class, complete a minimum of 12 hours of behind-the-wheel training with our district instructor, pass an ODE-certified physical, drug screening, and BCI/FBI background checks. Then a driver can attempt to take their CDL B license test to obtain their permanent license.
