Mental Health Therapist/Counselor

Classification: Certified                                            Salary Schedule: District Pay Scale

Department: Student Services                               Reports to: Special Education Director and Building Principal

Job Summary: A School Mental Health Therapist provides direct counseling, crisis support, and wellness programs to students within an educational setting. They help youth manage emotional and behavioral challenges that hinder academic success.

Job Qualifications:

1. Education: A Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Counseling, or comparable field.
2. Licensure: Must hold an active state license in the preferred field.
ODE: Professional Pupil Services License and/or Social Work Registration preferred
3. Experience: Prior experience providing trauma-informed care to children and adolescents
preferred, but not required

Essential Duties:

1. Assessment: Conducts clinical evaluations to diagnose mental health needs and creates
personalized treatment plans.
2. Counseling: Provides individual, group, and family therapy to address issues like anxiety, trauma, and
family conflicts.
3. Crisis Intervention: Steps in during acute emergencies, such as self-harm threats or severe emotional
distress.
4. Collaboration: Works closely with teachers, school administrators, and parents to support the
student's holistic well-being.
5. Case Management: Connects families with outside resources like community support groups.

General Responsibilities

1. Assume appropriate roles as adult model, behavior manager and educator.
2. Continue professional growth.
3. Assume other duties and special projects as assigned.
4. Duties will entail working at both campuses, serving students.

Terms of Employment: 192 days (Extended days possible)
