Meet Shannon Coleman, a senior at Kenton Ridge High School and a first-year Communications Intern! 

With a passion for public relations, Shannon is excited to explore the world of communications and get hands-on experience before heading to college. With her involvement in several school activities, she's bringing her Cougar spirit and leadership skills to the internship team!

Question: Why were you interested in being an intern for the NELSD Communications Department?
Answer: I have always been interested in communications. I wanted to take this opportunity to explore what I would like to study in college. 

Question: What activities are you involved with, and what leadership positions do you hold?
Answer: I am involved in the National Honors Society, Leo Club, Student Council, Chamber Singers (Choir), and the Girl's Soccer team.

Question: What's one surprising or interesting thing you've already learned as a communications intern that you didn't expect when you started?
Answer: I have learned that it is all about teamwork and everybody bringing something to the table that is beneficial in the long run. 

Question: As a high school intern, you balance your internship with your academic life. What's your secret to managing time effectively and staying on top of your responsibilities?
Answer: I balance my internship and academic life by keeping lists, writing in my planner, and setting reminders on my phone. 

Question: If you could choose a fictional character to represent your personality, who would it be and why?
Answer: I would choose Hello Kitty because of all the things she stands for, like kindness to others, how you should build strong friendships, and how actions are louder than words. 

Question: Share a quirky or surprising talent or skill that most people wouldn't know about you.
Answer: I enjoy photography. I love being able to capture a story through pictures.

Question: What's your go-to comfort food, and where is your favorite place to enjoy it in our community?
Answer: My go-to comfort food is french fries, which can be from any place. I will appreciate them all. One of my favorite places to visit is CJ Brown Reservoir. I love being able to walk and see the water as well on a nice, warm day. 

Question: What other fun fact would you like to share about yourself with our community?
Answer: A fun fact about me is that I am a twin. She is my built-in best friend.
