#MotivationMonday: Students Celebrate World Kindness Day with Sidewalk Art and Uplifting Messages

For this #MotivationMonday, we are deviating from this month's "gratitude" theme and focusing on kindness! Monday, November 13, 2023, was World Kindness Day!

This day was started in 1998 by the World Kindness Movement and has since spread to over 27 countries!

Student drawing on the sidewalk

For this World Kindness Day, a group of students got together before school hours to decorate the sidewalk before the elementary school children walked into the building! They left kind messages, uplifting sayings, and happy drawings.

To continue the spread of kindness, Mrs. Vanatta's Botany class also went outside to add to the kindness drawings. Izzabella Hall, a senior at Kenton Ridge High School, did a majority of the organization when it came to meeting before school. She said, "There was no shortage of volunteers to come in and help spread a little cheer. The sidewalk chalk might fade away pretty quickly, but I think I speak for everyone when I say we hope even a little bit of the happiness we caused with our positive messages lasted longer than the chalk!"

Thank you, NELSD Staff and Students who participated in World Kindness Day!
