Northeastern FFA Students explore careers at the Farm Science Review
On September 18, the Northeastern Future Farms of America (FFA) students took a field trip to the 62nd annual Farm Science Review, where they learned about the agriculture industry. Students were able to discover the diverse definition of agriculture with over 600 exhibits ranging from crop and animal management to new technological advancements.
Farm Science Review is held by the Ohio State College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences. Students were able to meet with advisors from this division of The Ohio State University (OSU) and discuss future career paths in the agricultural field. This allowed students to discover what they enjoy most in the agricultural industry as one in every seven jobs in Ohio relates back to agriculture.
FFA students got to take a tractor shuttle to the conservation area to learn about the effects of drought, water quality and how this can relate back to human health. Along with the conservation area, there is a harvest demonstration which showcases new machines from various companies. Students get to see firsthand how the equipment operates during harvest.
Overall students had an amazing experience getting to recognize the advancements in the agriculture industry. Students can’t wait to put this knowledge to use as they continue working in the classroom and out in the shop! Be on the lookout for more about the Northeastern FFA chapter!
