Northeastern Local Schools Earns Fifth Consecutive Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio, October 17, 2024—The Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) has once again been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023. This marks the fifth consecutive year the district has received this recognition.

An independent panel of experts evaluated the district's financial report for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2023, and determined that it met the high standards of the GFOA program. This recognition acknowledges NELSD’s dedication to financial transparency and its commitment to clearly communicating its financial story to the public.

"It’s a true honor for our team across the district to be recognized for the fifth consecutive year by the GFOA,” said Dale Miller, Treasurer for Northeastern Local Schools. “Our goal is always to provide our community with a clear understanding of the district’s financial health, and this award reaffirms our dedication to that mission."

This year’s ACFR was designed by Lilly Sagraves, a Northeastern High School Senior and Communications Intern, class of 2024. Sagraves' exceptional work demonstrates the district's emphasis on providing students with opportunities to gain real-world experience and contribute to their community.

NELSD remains focused on maintaining financial responsibility while prioritizing the educational needs of its students and the community. The district remains committed to maintaining a culture of fiscal responsibility and transparency for the benefit of its students, staff, and community.
