Meet Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Roaden, this week’s spotlight stars and the dynamic library aide duo at Northeastern! Together, they inspire young minds from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Their dedication helps create a welcoming library environment where students feel supported and encouraged to explore their potential.

As a proud Northeastern graduate, she finds joy in giving back to her community and celebrating students who exemplify the four pillars of service, leadership, character, and scholarship. Under her guidance, NHS organizes impactful community service projects, often teaming up with Mrs. Roaden’s Leo Club to create meaningful change throughout NELSD.

Mrs. Roaden leads the Leo Club with a giving heart and a passion for community service. She dedicates countless hours to helping with projects throughout the building as well as branching out to reach various organizations and nonprofits. Her goal is to create a group of students who lead their school with purpose and pride.

Stepping outside of the library, Mrs. Horton enjoys various activities and loves family time. She has been married to her husband, Stephen, for twenty-two years and has three children: Annica, Glenn, and Clair! Family gatherings and moments with close friends are at the heart of her free time. When she’s not busy, Mrs. Horton can often be found tending to her garden, crocheting beautiful creations, or getting lost in a good book. Her warm personality and diverse interests make her a cherished part of her family and the Northeastern community.

When Mrs. Roaden is not diligently keeping the library running smoothly, she enjoys spending time with her family. She was very fortunate to be married to Joe for forty-one years and has three children: Sarah, Jessica, and Aaron! As a proud grandparent of seven grandchildren, she stays very busy! Mrs. Roaden also loves to try new recipes and spend time at the pond and lakes fishing in the summer! Mrs. Roaden always makes time for her family, nurturing precious bonds that make life so special!

Northeastern is incredibly fortunate to have the dynamic duo of Mrs. Horton and Mrs. Roaden leading the library and advising such impactful clubs within our school. Their teamwork creates a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to strive for excellence, maintain a positive outlook, and contribute meaningfully to their community. Through their guidance, students not only grow academically but also develop a strong sense of responsibility and pride in giving back. NELSD is thankful to you both for your unwavering dedication, passion, and countless efforts to make our schools better every day. You are an inspiration to us all!
