Shining Staff Spotlight: Ms. Katelyn Massie
Introducing the amazing Ms. Katelyn Massie, a second-grade teacher at Northeastern Elementary School (NEES). Ms. Massie’s dedication and love for her students are making waves in our Northeastern community!
Ms. Massie, a true South Vienna native, continues to plant deep roots within our district, growing both personally and professionally. A proud alumna of Northeastern High School (NEHS), she not only found the foundation for her future but also discovered love with her high school sweetheart, Matt. They have filled their home with laughter and purrs, being loving cat parents to their two kitties, Dannie and Debbie.
Ms. Massie cherishes family and friends, and her siblings Megan and Chris, both Northeastern alumni, form an integral part of her close-knit support system. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom walls: together with Matt, Ms. Massie co-owns a thriving concrete business contributing to the growth and development of the community she calls home. Hard work and dedication pay off!
Travel serves as a rejuvenating force for this dynamic couple, with Chicago claiming the top spot on their list of favorite destinations, but, of course, they are happy to seize the opportunity for a spontaneous weekend getaway. They are always eager to explore new horizons! Ms. Massie also cherishes quiet evenings relaxing by the fire and unwinding, savoring the simple pleasures that bring balance to her life.
Ms. Massie has been impacting our NELSD community all her life! She attended Northeastern, proudly a Jet from K-12, and then continued her journey at Wilmington College, home of the Quakerman, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education K-3 along with a K-12 reading endorsement. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Massie back in our district as a dedicated educator for the past 12 years, making a lasting impact on our students!
Ms. Massie holds a special place in her heart for her students, their families, and her colleagues! She deeply treasures the friendships she has built along the way, and each day with her students means the world to her. She loves working closely with them and their families, deepening her connections and leaving a positive impact across our district!
Thank you for everything you do for our students and community, Ms. Massie. You are an inspiration, and we are beyond grateful for you!
