This week’s Shining Student Spotlight is none other than Addysun Keplinger!  Addysun is a sophomore at Kenton Ridge High School who is heavily involved in different clubs around the school and community!  She has avid dreams of becoming a Cosmetologist in the future and plans to use the opportunity to go to Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (CTC) to get a head start on her education!  We got the chance to interview Ms. Addysun. Check out what she had to say below!

Q: What are you most passionate about?
A: I’m most passionate about helping others first. Keeping good grades in school, and always trying my hardest in sports.

Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing?
A: All of my awards from bowling and cheerleading.

Q: What challenges have you overcome, and how have they made you a stronger person?
A: This past year I lost a very close family member and that made me realize that you should never take a day with someone you love for granted.

Q: How do you make a difference in your school and community?
A: I volunteer in my church with my youth group, and I’m also very active with Leo Club, so I am always doing things around my community.

Q: What does “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar” mean to you?
A: “Once a Cougar, Always a Cougar” means that no matter what you end up doing in your life, you’re always proud that you went to Kenton Ridge. You will always be able to feel supported by Kenton Ridge in any way, shape, or form.

Q: What advice would you give your underclassmen?
A: To do your work and try hard in all your classes.

Q: What has been your favorite memory throughout your years of high school?
A: The Powderpuff Game!

Q: What do you plan to do in the future? (Career, education, etc.)
A: I plan on going to the CTC for Cosmetology next year, and then to college to further my education.

The NELSD community could not be more impressed with you and all of your accomplishments, Addysun!  Keep up the incredible work and enjoy the rest of your time in high school!
