Shining Student Spotlight: Drew Fansler

This week, we introduce a dedicated and driven student with a passion for both academics and community service, Andrew “Drew” Fansler, a 12th grader at Kenton Ridge High School. He's committed to making the most of his high school experience, balancing rigorous coursework with extracurricular activities and volunteer work.

Drew is a dedicated student who has not missed a day of school since 2018 and maintains a 4.0 GPA. While he has faced challenges like procrastination, he has learned the importance of time management and prioritizing. His advice to underclassmen is not to worry too much about others' opinions; people often pay less attention than you think.

Beyond academics, Drew is a well-rounded student involved in various extracurricular activities. He's a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), Leo Club, Student Advisory Club, pole vaulter for the Track and Field team, and a part of the Marching Cougar Band. Additionally, he founded Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), a club dedicated to providing future health professionals with opportunities and a head start in the medical field.

Drew is also committed to community service, participating in numerous volunteer projects. His latest project, bracelet-making with the Leo Club and NHS, will launch in November to raise awareness and funds for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research, a neuromuscular degenerative disease. This project aligns with his plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Psychology, followed by medical school, specializing in surgery or clinical research for neurological diseases. Drew's already ahead of the game, starting Phlebotomy school this winter.

Drew shows his Cougar Pride through his collaborative spirit and respect for others, even when opinions differ. He is passionate about helping people and spreading kindness. He also enjoys creating fun 'dad lore' to share with his future children. One of his favorite high school memories is the bonds he formed with friends, the laughter they have shared, and watching them create on their own paths. You can find him watching Grey's Anatomy and making new memories outside of school and extra activities.
