Superintendent Update - 8/4/2023

Dear NELSD Families,

I hope everyone has had a fantastic summer and is eagerly awaiting the new school year, just like the Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) team. It is another exciting year for us, with our students and staff at the Kenton Ridge Campus starting in their brand-new building.

As we approach the start of the 2023-24 academic year, we would like to provide some useful information to our families. This year, we have planned for a staggered start for our students. Those with last names starting from A to K will begin on Tuesday, August 29, while students with last names from L to Z will start on Wednesday, August 30. All students are to attend on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

As a school district, we take the safety of our students very seriously. That is why we decided to bring Deputy Reaver on board as our school resource officer (SRO) last year. This year, we are pleased to share that Deputy Megan Forrest has joined our team as an additional SRO, reflecting our dedication to this goal. Deputy Forrest comes to us through the Clark County Sheriff's Office and is our dedicated SRO at the new Kenton Ridge Pk-12 Campus. Deputy Forrest joins us from New Carlisle, where she spent two and a half years serving as a Deputy Sheriff. With this new addition, NELSD will have an SRO at each building, with Deputy Reaver serving the Northeastern Pk-12 Campus. Please help us welcome Deputy Forrest to the NELSD family and give her a wave or say hello when you see her on our campuses.

Our Back-to-School Hub launched last week. On this hub, you will find information about Orientations, Open Houses, the 2023-24 District Calendar, School Supply Lists, Food Services information and more! We will continue to update this hub with Back-to-School information as we get closer to the start of school.

We are also excited to announce that we adopted a new form of school-to-home communication at NELSD called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:

  • Send and receive school and class information
  • Share pictures and files
  • See calendar items
  • Schedule parent-teacher conferences
  • and much more…all in one centralized place!

Parents—Getting Started Video
All district and school, grade level and classroom information will now be sent to your computer or phone via email and/or text. For even more convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices). Look for additional information from us regarding ParentSquare registration in the near future.

Just to remind you, we are using FinalForms to provide the District with critical information needed for the school year.

  • Parents/guardians must complete the FinalForms student registration every school year. To update your child(ren)'s information or create a parent account, kindly click here. If you don't have a parent account yet, you can create one using the same link.
  • FinalForms is accessible using a mobile phone or computer. In addition, parents/guardians can update their contact information, Emergency Medical Authorization (EMA) forms, complete athletic forms, find their child(ren)’s student ID, and more using the FinalForms online student registration system.
  • You can also access FinalForms at any point in the school year to update your information in the system if you have a change of address, change your phone number, update transportation information, etc.

Our families, teachers, support staff, and students have been invaluable partners in our journey, and we appreciate their unwavering support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by email at or by phone at (937) 325-7615.
