Northeastern Alumna Kathleen Bishop Joins Northeastern Local School District as Occupational Therapist

Springfield, Ohio, December 2, 2021—The Northeastern Local School District welcomes Kathleen “Katie” Bishop, a 1995 Northeastern High School graduate, as an occupational therapist for the district. The NELSD Board will approve her hiring at the December Board Meeting.

Bishop, who begins her position today, Thursday, December 2, will be responsible for collaborating with our educational staff to provide occupational therapy assessments for students. Additionally, she will work with members of our academic teams to develop treatment plans and goals for students based on their educational needs. Bishop will also monitor treatment strategies for efficacy and educate our staff, parents, and students about occupational and physical therapy services and available resources, among other things.

“We are delighted to be able to add another occupational therapist to our student services team, especially someone of Katie’s caliber,” said Steve Linson, Director of Pupil Services. “She will definitely be a valuable resource for our students and staff.”

Most recently, Bishop worked as an occupational therapist assistant at Clark County Educational Services (ESC), where she provided school-based occupational therapy throughout the Clark County area. Prior to that, she served as an occupational therapist assistant at Mercy Health Oakwood Village and Mental Health Services of Clark County. Bishop also served as a medical specialist for the Ohio Army National Guard.

Bishop is excited about giving back to the community that raised her and is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work alongside her former educators and classmates at NELSD. She is also looking forward to connecting with our NELSD students and watching them grow and develop from preschool through high school.

Bishop holds a master’s of occupational therapy from Muskingum University, a bachelor’s degree from Urbana University, and an associate’s degree from Sinclair Community College. She lives in New Carlisle with her husband Jason, a local farmer, and their two children, a senior and freshman at Northwestern High School.
