Construction has really ramped up and is progressing quickly at our Northeastern PK-12 building site.
Earlier in the school year, teachers had the opportunity to tour the building and take their first look at their soon-to-be new space. It was an exciting experience, and we are looking forward to this summer when we are able to move into our new building ahead of the 2022-2023 school year.
A lot has been happening inside of the Northeastern PK-12 building with windows installed, primer and the first coat of paint is up on most of the walls and has continued throughout the building, cabinets and floors have been installed. In addition, ahead of the holiday break, prep work for the terrazzo flooring in the main commons area outside of the high school gymnasium and theater was underway, and the media center, or IMC, was starting to get framed out. Footage in the video is from the fall and early winter. We are currently working on our next video update to show our community all of the work that has happened inside and outside of the building.
Northeastern Local School District (NELSD) will continue to provide updates to the community on the progress of both of our PK-12 buildings. Superintendent Kronour would like to encourage community members to reach out to him with any questions they may have as we continue to move through this exciting process.
The new Northeastern PK-12 is located on the property behind the current South Vienna Elementary School and will open at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
